British army bomb disposal experts have declared a suspect device found outside a Catholic school in Belfast to be an elaborate hoax.

The device was found at the gates of the Holy Cross Primary School, Ardoyne Road, North Belfast just after 11 a.m., an RUC spokesman said.

The security operation is now over, the spokesman said, adding no further details were available.
