Each week, we'll ask a new question for answer by Generation Emigration readers. It could be anything from a request for advice on the best way to move your belongings between countries, or how to help young children adjust after a big move. If you have problem you'd like advice about, or an issue you just want to discuss with other Irish people living abroad, please email your suggestions to emigration@irishtimes.com.

The first query comes from Ciara O’Keeffe, who has just moved back to Ireland and is looking for tips on how to find cheaper car insurance. Please leave your advice for Ciara in the comments section below.

“I’ve just arrived home from Australia and I’m being quoted huge amounts for car insurance because I don’t have a no claims bonus. I am 28, with no prior claims and a full license with nine years’ driving experience. What have other people’s experience been? Is there a way to get around this?”
