Furlong, Ryan and Henderson set to return to training to give Ireland clean bill of health

Three main injury concerns heading into the championship to train on Tuesday in camp

Andy Farrell is set to have a full squad to choose from when finalising the side to play Ireland's opening 2022 Guinness Six Nations game against Wales next Saturday at the Aviva Stadium (kick-off 2.15pm), with Tadhg Furlong, James Ryan and Iain Henderson all due to return to full training tomorrow.

Furlong sustained a calf injury just five minutes into Leinster’s Heineken Champions Cup victory over Montpellier a fortnight ago, Ryan was a late withdrawal the same day due to a minor hamstring injury and Henderson hasn’t played since injuring his ankle in Ulster’s win over Northampton on December 11th.

The trio were Ireland’s biggest concerns prior to the 37-man squad’s arrival at The Campus in Quinta da Lago, Portugal last Thursday but an IRFU update has stated that they are all set to train tomorrow after having their respective loads managed to this point.

Furthermore, Keith Earls (strain), Josh van der Flier (strain) and Joey Carbery (elbow) have all trained fully last Friday and Saturday, before a recovery day yesterday and organisational day today.
