Elected TDs
Aengus O Snodaigh

Aengus Ó Snodaigh, a TD for Sinn Féin since 2002, took the third seat in Dublin South Central.

Originally from Ballyfermot, he joined the party while studying at University College Dublin.

He is an Irish speaker and enthusiast and was Sinn Féin’s spokesperson for Gaeilge, the Gaeltacht, Arts and Culture in the last Dáil.

He was previously Sinn Féin’s party whip and spokesperson for social affairs and introduced motions to reverse social welfare cuts. He was also active in campaigns to abolish water charges and the local property tax in recent years, as well as trying to keep Ballyfermot’s De La Salle School open.

Four years ago, Mr Ó Snodaigh topped the poll in the general election with a massive 17,015 first preferences, some 39 per cent of the vote, but no running mate.

Before he moved into full-time politics he worked for Bord na Gaeilge. He is married with three children and lives in Bluebell.
