Sir, – It never ceases to amaze me how passionate the Irish soccer-loving public are about the exploits of Manchester United and similar British football clubs.
It is hard to believe that we actually have our own domestic league here, and even harder to believe that Irish people will openly admit they don’t give recognition to it.
I am what is commonly known as a die-hard League of Ireland soccer supporter and I do actually accept there is a difference in the standard of class between the two. But surely if you want to improve the quality of your own league, then the only way to do that is to support it. – Yours, etc,
