Referendum timing

Sir, –All future referendums should be held, as far as practicable, on the fourth Friday in May. There’d be no chance of freak weather. The sun would only be setting as the polls close at 10pm, which should help turnout. Bright, mild evenings would allow campaigners on both sides to engage in person with as many undecided voters as possible. May, while bright and mild, still falls before most people’s summer breaks abroad and major distractions like the World Cup. – Yours, etc,
