JUSTICE LAFFOY RESIGNATION

Madam, - Ms Justice Mary Laffoy should be commended for her dedication and commitment to the proper investigation of institutional abuse.

She proved her sincerity in tendering her resignation to the Government. It is obvious that she deemed her resignation necessary because the Government had persistently failed to properly enable her to perform her duties according to her remit.

Such widespread and appalling abuse cannot be dealt with in a convenient, concise, cost-effective manner. These were horrific, painful crimes which took place over a great many years and destroyed the lives of hundreds of innocent victims. Each voice, each story and every detail must be heard.

Ms Justice Laffoy's sincerity is proven. Now is the time for the Government to follow her example. - Yours, etc.,

Dr BERNADETTE BRADY, Hillside Park, Dublin 16.
