A British woman arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and child neglect after the death of her two sons in a fire has been freed on bail.

Denise Goldsmith (29), was released overnight after being questioned yesterday.

Taylor and Lewis Jenkins, aged five and seven, died in a fire at their terraced house in Eastbourne, East Sussex, last Saturday.

Postmortem examinations found they died from smoke inhalation. Their mother suffered minor injuries in the blaze.

Officers from Sussex Police's major crime branch arrested Ms Goldsmith after talks with the Crown Prosecution Service. The cause of the fire is under investigation, although police say it was not started deliberately.
