Tehran - Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the US strikes on Afghanistan, saying they would kill innocent civilians and turn thousands into refugees.

"We condemn the attack on the country and the people of Afghanistan," state television showed Ayatollah Khamenei telling clerics at the prayer hall at his residence in central Tehran. "Death to America, death to Israel," the congregation chanted.
