Algiers - At least 20 people were killed and 120 injured in the earthquake in north-west Algeria last night, state television reported.
The quake was also felt in eastern Morocco, reports from Rabat said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Several houses collapsed in the town of Ain Temushent 450 km east of the capital Algiers, according to the official APS news agency. Six of the deaths were reported in Ain Temushent.
