The annual SuperValu French Wine Sale started this week and will continue until September 21st.

As well as the two featured wines below, the Goichot Chablis (€15) offers good value for money. SuperValu regulars will be familiar with the fragrant and smooth Lady De Mour Margaux 2020 (€25.00, was €37.99) and the richer broader more powerful Château Tour Baladoz 2021 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru for €30.00, down from €45. Neither is cheap but both offer solid value for money.

Lastly, hats off to SuperValu for tempting us with a few lesser-known names; the Château de la Mulonnière Savennières ‘L’Effet Papillon’ (€20.00) from the Loire valley is well worth trying out.

A Burgundian take on sauvignon blanc from a small region close to Chablis. Aromatic with rich nectarine and peach balanced by a fine acidity. Enjoy with richer fish such as salmon or tuna.

I have featured this wine before, but it offers great value for money. Warm, rich and powerful with soft rounded red fruits. This would go nicely with the last barbecue of the season or the first beef or lamb casseroles.
