PepTalk, an employee software company co-founded by former Dublin footballer Bernard Brogan, has raised €1.2 million as it looks to expand.

The company intends to take on additional staff after securing the funding from Haatch Ventures, a British venture capital firm that has also backed fellow Irish companies Buymie and Scurri. Other backers include Enterprise Ireland and several angel investors.

Founded in 2017 by Mr Brogan, his cousin James Brogan, and Michelle Fogarty, PepTalk has developed an employee wellness platform. Its clients include AIB, Linesight, Nitro and PRL Group.

PepTalk said it had experienced significant growth in the last 12 months, with a doubling of turnover as more clients use it to promote better wellbeing during the pandemic. It has more than 10,000 users overall.

New roles

The start-up, which currently employs 20 people is to take on an additional 15 with new roles across sales, marketing, and technology.

“The world of work is at a crucial inflection point, with the hybrid model now emerging as the clear winner. Organisations must consider how they build trust, connection, and shared experiences in this environment,” said James Brogan, PepTalk’s chief executive.

“Hybrid culture needs to be built with much more pro-activity and intentionality and that is where our platform is now essential. Ensuring those social behaviours are nudged and enabled wherever employees are based. This is a fundamental part of performance culture and will impact productivity if not addressed,” he added.
