Erling Haaland scored twice but Tijjani Reijnders was the star of Manchester City’s 4-0 Premier League win away to Wolves as he marked his Premier League debut with a goal and an assist.
Haaland scored in City’s opening league game of a season for a fourth consecutive season, tapping in Rico Lewis’ cross in the 34th minute, but only after Reijnders’ run forward and neat pass had cut open Wolves.
Three minutes later the Dutchman got his own goal with a fine finish, and the £34 million arrival from Milan then set up Haaland’s second just after the hour.
Substitute Rayan Cherki, having replaced Haaland, marked his own Premier League debut with a goal in the 81st minute as Pep Guardiola’s side, looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign last season, got off to an excellent start.
