From Haverton, Pennsylvania with strong Irish connections - his father Thomas hailing from Portarlington - Ryan has been unwavering in his commitment to Irish swimming since qualifying for Rio in 2016, with the medals to prove it. In 2018 he won bronze in the 50m backstroke at the 2018 World Short Course Championships, and in 2019 also won European Short Course bronze. Was part of the 2019 and 2020 International Swimming League with Toronto Titans and is coached by Ben Higson.
