From Rathfarnham in south Dublin, Murphy will be competing in her third Olympics; in London 2012, she came agonisingly close to a medal, finishing fourth after being in medal position for long stages. Undaunted, she finished second in Rio 2016, winning an Olympic silver. Back competing in this Olympic category after taking a short break after Rio, when Murphy temporarily switched her focus to the Volvo Ocean Race.
