O'Driscoll socks it to 'em

Brian O'Driscoll, having scored the first try for the Barbarians against South Africa last Sunday, was splendidly captured doing so by the body of world photographers in Cardiff. Several people pointed out one feature about O'Driscoll's excellent score, which was not mentioned by the commentator. That was the design of the socks he was wearing.

Defying the long-standing Barbarian convention of wearing the colours of your club - in this case Blackrock RFC, who wear navy socks - O'Driscoll wore the blue and white hooped socks of the Blackrock College team. How does the phrase go? `Rock Boys Are We.'
