Vaccine bonus

Sir, – Rather than consider a “vaccine bonus” with increased freedoms for people vaccinated, can we instead consider an approach offering wider benefits to the whole of society?

We have, after all, sacrificed so much of our freedom to get to this point and it will be hard to contain the desire to break the latest set of rules.

We know the detail of infection rates in local electoral areas.

Why not set a rolling seven-day infection target for an area? Let’s take a figure of under 50 new cases per 100,000, for argument’s sake.

Once a specific area reaches this target, then we open up more in that area, while maintaining the 5km travel ban.

This would give us all something specific and relatively controllable to aim for and help us work together to beat lockdown fatigue. – Yours, etc,
