Under lock and key

Sir, – Dennis Fitzgerald (Letters, March 9th) was offended by being mistaken for a Uber driver, by having a young man jump into his car even before he had got out of it. He has to realise that it's a fact of life that frenetic young people are often distracted by their phones, use Uber a lot, and can even sometimes turn out to be car thieves.

Therefore I would recommend that he keeps his car doors locked at all times. One could retort to his letter by asking what happened to the old adage, “Good fences make good neighbours”? – Yours, etc,

SEAMUS McKENNA,
