Sir, – How reassuring to read in Frank McDonald’s article (“Demolition debate”, November 17th) that “demolition is probably the worst thing you can do in terms of sustainability”. He was quoting French architect Anne Lacaton.
How often have I stood before yet another hole in the Dublin streetscape, struggling to remember what was there before. Then recognition would dawn: “But it was only a building from the 1960s!”
It can all be done differently.
