Sir, – Sean Duke’s article “Quantum computing poised to transform big-data landscape” (Science, February 18th) gives the most fascinating and clearly described picture of what is coming down the tracks.
I wish he would write about blockchain systems, because try as I have, I cannot make out how that works.
Mind you, I still think that there is no quantum computer to equal the female brain, which can cook a meal, home-school a family, look after toddlers and at the same time hold down a “work from home” job.
While this is going on, it can also interpret the nuances of a row going on in the other room, plan tomorrow’s domestic and educational programmes, and accurately predict the likelihood of rain by looking out of the window! – Yours, etc,
