Sir, – May is high season for spraying “weeds”.
Verges, signs and fences are all dowsed in glyphosate. Roadside trees are ringed with yellowing grass. This is usually unjustified and always unsightly.
The example set by county councils and Tidy Towns encourages house owners to do the same.
This is ugly, unnecessary, bad for the environment and should be banned. – Yours, etc,
