Sir, – Further to Nick Folley's letter of May 18th, DAA plc is the commercial semi-State company responsible for the management of Dublin and Cork airports, as well as Aer Rianta International and DAA International. All four are autonomous businesses within the DAA group, with their own chief executives, managing directors and senior leadership teams. All four businesses leverage the strength of the DAA group, which is investing over €40 million in capital projects at Cork Airport, including a new hold baggage security system, the recently reconstructed main runway and a new electrical substation. This summer, Cork Airport, as the State's second-biggest and best-connected international airport after Dublin, will serve over 40 scheduled routes, served by eight airlines. In addition to direct routes, Cork Airport is well served by frequent scheduled services to major European hub airports – London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich – from which passengers have hundreds of routes to choose from, served by some of the largest network carriers in the world.
Cork Airport has been an integral part of the company that has managed the State’s airports for the past 82 years.
