Sir, – Reading the news from Glasgow of the Cop26 deal on climate change, I cannot get the words of the late Brendan Kennelly’s poem “Begin” out of my head:
“Though we live in a world that dreams of ending/that always seems about to give in/something that will not acknowledge conclusion/insists that we forever begin.”
I’ll stick with that, thank you, to infinity and beyond.
