Sir, – Following the announcement of restrictions by the Taoiseach, I, like many others, was left pondering what effect each restriction would have on the spread of the virus. Questions like “How can being in the pub at 10pm be any more dangerous than being there at 6pm?” ran through my mind.
I realise the Government and Nphet have a difficult situation to deal with but I ask that rather than announcing every restriction under one banner and purpose of “reducing the spread” that they instead provide a reason for each restriction along with any studies or evidence behind efficacy of the restriction if that is available at the time of implementation. I believe this approach would be very effective in restoring the public’s faith in our Government’s and Nphet’s ability to steer us through these times.
