Broadcasting the Angelus

Sir, – What about an inquiry into the disappearance of the middle-distance people? For many years, once the bells rang, they stopped cutting the hedge, wiping the windscreen or chopping the vegetables and looked into the middle distance. They didn’t bless themselves as their ancestors had done – no, they lived for the middle distance. And then they were gone. Wiped out. Erased from history. But not forgotten. – Yours, etc,

PAUL FARRELLY,

Sir, – Tom Cooper (June 9th) describes the Angelus as a “call to reflect”, which appears appropriate. It frequently gives me pause to reflect on my choice of radio station, and act accordingly. – Yours, etc,
