Sir, – As I reel across the room, staggering, after reading that the Government has nothing better to do than insist that the drink industry warn us all in the strongest possible terms that excesses of alcohol can be bad for us, I can only thank these nannying politicos for saving me the price of a decent bottle.
Too much drink is potentially dangerous. Well, who would ever have thought that?
I definitely need a few pints after this one. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I completely fail to understand the Government’s handling of restrictions on the sale of alcohol. On one hand it wants to ruin my Christmas treat of foie gras with a glass of sauterne by putting a picture of a diseased fatty liver on the bottle. On the other hand it is proposing to allow clubs and pubs stay open until 4am. – Yours, etc,
