Sir, – Judges do not believe they will replaced by AI in 10 years, but are less confident if the time frame is moved to 30 years (“Judges do not believe their jobs will be taken over by artificial intelligence – yet”, News, May 2nd).
Judges should be human. The law is a code and and having it judged by a computer code would be a travesty. If a human judge is inhumane and cruel that is a failure of the justice system. He or she should not have been made a judge. If an AI judge is inhuman and merciless, that is to be expected. – Yours, etc,
