Sir, – Malachi O’Sullivan asks for “some respect for the French people by not using such an emotive term to describe their legitimate actions” such as “wildcat” when referring to a recent workers’ strike at a French airport in protest at the government’s pension reforms (Letters, March 27th).
The spontaneous walkout by the workers at a French airport that day without the prior authorisation of their union is universally described as a wildcat strike. – Yours, etc,
