A WOMAN has settled her High Court action against a dental agency over allegedly being left with three dead teeth following treatment at a Hungarian clinic.
Siobhán Dowling, Gleann na Riogh, Naas, Co Kildare, had sued Tibor Botos, trading as Tibor Dental, Ballinrea, Carrigaline, Cork, a dental agency that refers patients to its clinics in Budapest.
Lawyers for Ms Dowling said it was a matter for assessment of damages only.
The court had been told Ms Dowling went to Mr Botos’s agency in 2009 because she had four veneers on her front teeth that needed to be replaced. He advised her to have six crowns put in and sent her to Hungary for the work.
While that appeared cosmetically satisfactory, the crowns did not fit and she developed increasing pain. By November 2009, after attending another dentist, it was found two of her teeth were dead, a third was dying and later died, and she had gum abscesses.
A further examination showed the vitality of five teeth affected. She underwent repair treatment which ended in May 2010, counsel said.
After an adjournment yesterday Patricia Dillon SC, for Ms Dowling, said the case had been settled and could be adjourned for a month for mention.
