The trial of a man accused of sexually assaulting his sister over a five-year period has collapsed in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Michael White directed the jury to return a not-guilty verdict on further charges of sexual assault and indecent assault of the accused man's six-year-old niece.

He ordered that the jury be discharged and a retrial date be fixed on the remaining charges.
