Relatives of the 61 victims who died in the Aer Lingus Viscount disaster near Tuskar Rock 30 years ago will gather in Cork on Monday to establish a group to campaign for a new investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The pilot of the aircraft was Capt Barney O'Beirne, whose son, David, will be present at the meeting. Mr O'Beirne told The Irish Times yesterday that the bereaved families felt too many questions had been left unanswered.

There was a growing clamour, he added, for a new and more thorough investigation. At the time, a Government inquiry produced an inconclusive report.
