The managing director of Irish multimedia recruitment consultancy NewMediaCV has cautioned against unnecessary panic at the changing fortunes of Irish ecommerce firms.
Mr Dermot Rogers said today there are more job vacancies in the ebusiness sector now than there are suitable candidates.
"Employees and job-seekers should not be demoralised by recent upsets," said Mr Rogers. "In the ebusiness, Web and multimedia sector, things have tightened up in line with trends worldwide but there is no need for anxiety about career security.
"In fact all recent local and international forecasts still emphasise that demand is exceeding supply and that there is still relatively rapid growth in ebusiness markets."
Citing the recent NewMediaCV salary report Mr Rogers said: "Even though some ebusiness companies have slowed down their hiring activity there has still been a growth of between 10 per cent and 20 per cent in the salary levels on offer over the past six months across a range of positions."
The salary report shows Ireland lagging behind the US where salaries are 45 per cent higher for entry level- and mid- ranking positions.
Career development is the most valued aspect of the job according to the report, with pay second.
Then the location of the job, the impression of the employer, funding levels and business plans and the opportunity for travel and job security are listed as the most important decision factors.
