London - A British man who is paralysed from the neck down managed to defraud companies of £250,000 from his bed, a newspaper reported yesterday. Anthony Tobias (36), who was paralysed in a swimming accident as a youngster, used a telephone, a computer and a pen clenched between his teeth to carry out the fraud, the Daily Telegraph reported. Judge Ronald Moss found Tobias guilty but gave him probation instead of a jail sentence, arguing that sending a paralysed man to prison would be "inhuman".
