Electrical wires lying around are also unacceptable, said Ms Merlina Merton, an expert on ancient Chinese norms which prescribe the positioning of things in a house or office.
"The bed should be well placed so they can build an energy field from their lovemaking," she told a forum on How to Make a Wedding and Undo a Marriage. "Radiation (from the TV set) can disturb the energy field of the bed."
If newly married couples want to watch adult movies, she suggested the video set be angled to the bed. "But if you need to watch dirty movies while you're on a honeymoon, my God, the marriage is gone already."
