A man is to be charged in Glasgow tomorrow in connection with the murder of former UVF gunrunner Lindsay Robb.
He was arrested by detectives hunting the killer of Mr Robb who was stabbed in a frenzied knife attack in the city on New Year Eve.
Mr Robb (38) and four other men were tried in Glasgow and sentenced to 10 years in 1995 for gun-running. They were arrested following a four-day MI5 undercover operation.
Mr Robb had recruited loyalist sympathisers from Scottish Orange Orders to assist in a weapons smuggling plot. They were caught after purchasing a consignment of arms form undercover MI5 officers.
While in jail, he switched allegiance from the UVF to the LVF and was the first prisoner from that organisation released early under the terms of the Belfast Agreement.
By the time of release in January 1999, he had been transferred to prison in Northern Ireland.
Originally from Lurgan, Co Armagh, he later returned to Scotland and settled in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, with his wife.
Mr Robb was a member of the Progressive Unionist Party and had represented the party in peace process talks just months before being jailed.
