New Zealand beat Canada by five wickets at the Cricket World Cup today but must wait on the result from the Sri Lanka-South Africa game to see if they qualify for the Super Sixes stage.

Having bowled out Canada for 196, the Kiwis batted out to secure victory in 23 overs and take their net run-rate to 0.99.

Scott Styris, who began the tournament with a century against Sri Lanka, ended on 54 not out off 38 balls. Chris Harris made an unbeaten 38 off 29.

New Zealand finished their league engagements with 16 points to draw level with Sri Lanka.A win for Sri Lanka, who are playing South Africa in Durban, would eliminate South Africa and send New Zealand through to the next stage.

If South Africa win, run-rates will then decide the other two qualifiers from Group B behind Kenya.
