Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr's intended trip to Moscow today to watch tonight's Euro 2004 Championship qualifier between Russia and Switzerland was called off.
The jet operator, Westair, were advised prior to departure that as a result of Russian Air Traffic Control restrictions the flight would be delayed.
Considering the commute time to get from the airport in Moscow to the stadium, and the flight delay, it was highly unlikely Kerr would have got to the match in time - which is due to start 5 p.m. Irish time. Therefore, the decision was taken not to make the trip.Had the chartered flight gone ahead it was reported the cost would have somewhere in the region of €20,000. Westair have since confirmed to ireland.comthat the cancellation would not cost the FAI a penny.
