Moped driver dies after collision with car on Dublin’s NCR

Road closed to facilitate forensic collision investigators and diversions put in place

A moped driver has died after a collision with a car in Dublin.

The crash happened just after 7.30pm in Dublin, at the junction of Sherrard Street and the North Circular Road.

The driver of the moped, aged in his 30s, was seriously injured and treated at the scene by emergency services.

He was then taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital for medical assessment, although his injures are understood to be minor.

The coroner has been notified and a postmortem examination will be carried out. The road was closed to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions were put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular for anyone who was at the crash site when the collision occurred and who has not yet come forward to make contact.
