Two men who died in a crash in Co Meath on Thursday morning have been named as David Conroy and John Enright.
Drogheda United FC paid tribute to their “wonderful” under-14s coach Mr Conroy.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on the R152 at Keenogue, Duleek, shortly before 7am. Mr Conroy, who was in his 40s, and Mr Enright, aged in his 30s, died in the incident.
This morning we received the dreadful news that our wonderful U14s coach, David Conroy, passed away following a traffic accident.

Mr Conroy was driving a van while Mr Enright was driving a car when they were caught up in the incident.

In a statement on Twitter, Drogheda United said that they had received the “dreadful news” that one of the men who died was Mr Conroy, who was a much loved coach with their under youth side.
“Our club is built on volunteers and fans and David was the finest of both. To all David’s family, we send all of our love. David, thank you for everything. Rest in peace friend.”
Laytown United FC posted that Mr Conroy was their "friend and director of football".
“David was not only a coach or committee member, he was and always will be at the centre of everything that is Laytown United FC. As a mark of respect, all club activities will cease until further notice.”
Mr Conroy lived in Laytown, Co Meath, and was married with five children.
A fundraiser posted on Facebook for Mr Conroy’s wife Jackie and their children Lee, Cheryl, Alex, Dayne and Heidi has raised more than €21,000 since it was set up.

Mr Enright of Ardcath in Co Meath is survived by his parents Johnny and Bernadette, his partner Sarah and son Leon. He is also mourned by his siblings Keith, Simon, Colin and Daniel. Funeral arrangements are being finalised for Mr Enright.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
“Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who were travelling on the R152 between Kilmoon Cross and Duleek between 6.20am and 6.50am and who may have camera footage, including dashcam, to make this footage available to gardaí.
