A man was battered to death with a baseball bat in the garden of his inner city home but the person due to be charged in connection with his death has also died, Dublin City Coroner's Court heard yesterday. Det Sgt Walter O'Connor told an inquest into the death of Mr Liam Nolan (53), of Lower Oriel Street, Dublin 1, that Mr Nolan died on August 25th, 1998, of a fractured skull caused by repeated blows to the head with a baseball bat.

The jury returned an open verdict.
