A 22-year-old Derry man has been remanded in custody on a charge of maliciously wounding another man with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr David Paul Mooney, from Drumleck Drive in Shantallow, appeared at a special sitting of Derry Magistrate's Court today. Mr Mooney he made no reply to the charge. He was remanded in custody until January 8th.

It is believed the charge relates to an incident on the Pennyburn industrial estate early last night in which a 24-year-old man was seriously injured.
