Two men arrested in connection with death of woman in Westport last month

One of suspects in his 50s, the other in his 30s after death of Sylwia Adamaczyk

Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with the death of a 40-year-old woman in Westport, Co. Mayo last month.

They are being held at Castlebar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

One of the suspects is in his 50s, the other is in his 30s.

They can be held for up to 24 hours without charge.

The arrests came as officers continued their investigation into the death of Sylwia Adamaczyk, a Polish national.

Garda divers had previously searched the river which flows through Westport, as part of the investigation into the death of the 40-year-old woman.

Ms Adamaczyk was found dead in an apartment on Castlebar Street, Westport, in the early afternoon of July 31st.

The details from a post mortem into her death, carried out by a State Pathologist, Dr Heidi Okkers, have not been released.

The deceased had been working in the local hospitality industry for some time prior to her death.
