Two freed in Limerick gangland inquiry

Men questioned after weapons and drugs found during searches

Two men arrested after weapons and drugs were discovered by gardai targeting gangland crime in Limerick have been released without charge.

Cocaine, cannabis, cash, ammunition and a Glock pistol were recovered by gardai during searches of a number of houses, apartments and other premises in the city on Thursday morning.

Six homes were searched as well as a number of sheds and outhouses in the Cornmarket and Lwr Gerald Griffin Street areas.

Two men, aged 26 and 37, were arrested and were taken to Henry Street Garda station.

A Garda spokesman said one was released late last night and the second this morning. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
