Man arrested after apartment complex and two cars set on fire in north Dublin

The man who is in his 40s is being detained in Coolock Garda Station

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 40s following several incidents of criminal damage by fire that occurred in the Coolock and Clarehall areas of Dublin.

Gardaí received reports at 12.30pm on Monday that a man had set fire to the outside of an apartment complex in the Newtown Court area of Coolock.

At around 1pm, gardaí arrested the man after two cars were set alight in the Templeview Green area of Clarehall.

The man is currently detained at Coolock Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Dublin Fire Brigade said three units from Kilbarrack and North Strand fire stations attended the scene in Temple View Green along with one ambulance.

Investigations are continuing.
