Gardaí have indicated there have been no confirmed sightings of missing Cork woman Tina Satchwell in the five months since she disappeared from her home in Youghal, Co Cork.

Last weekend gardaí concluded land and sea searches in Youghal for Tina Satchwell as they attempt to trace the missing 45-year-old. Gardaí have described her disappearance as “out of character”. The search was started as “a result of information received and ongoing inquiries into the disappearance of Ms Satchwell”.

Tina Satchwell has been missing from her home in Youghal since March 24th . She is described as 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with blue eyes and blond, shoulder-length hair.

Forensic examination

Mrs Satchwell was reported missing by her husband Richard Satchwell. Gardaí carried out a full forensic examination of her property. They have also examined her mobile phone records and bank accounts to see if there has been any activity since her disappearance.

Her husband told the Opinion Line on Cork's 96FM earlier this summer that on any given day he and Tina would speak "10 or 20 times".

“We are best friends and could talk about anything. I miss all that. On many occasions we could sit down and talk and talk and talk. A few times a month we could just sit downstairs talking and it would be five or six in the morning before we would say ‘we better go upstairs’. I miss it awfully. I miss her laughing. I miss her smiles. There is absolutely no joy left.”

Mr Satchwell made an emotional appeal for his wife to come home.

“If you feel you can’t get in touch with the gardaí and you feel you still want time away from me, whatever the reason, send a letter to a member of the family or contact a radio station. Just let somebody know somehow. You don’t have to let them know where you are even. Let them know you are there and you are safe.”

Love

Mr Satchwell said it was love at first sight for him when he met Tina in England 28 years ago. “She moved in next door to my brother. She was there literally around eight hours when I spotted her. And I said to my brother ‘I am going to marry her’. I could tell you what she was wearing. The brand and the actual name of the lipstick she was wearing. There is nothing I can’t tell you.”

Mrs Satchwell was originally from Fermoy, Co Cork. Members of the Garda Water Unit carried out a series of dives off the quays in Youghal last Saturday. The North Cork Garda Divisional Search team also joined an Army search team from Collins Barracks in Cork to comb scrubland on Golf Links Road in Youghal. Further searches may resume at a later date.
