Suspected pipe bomb discovered in Dundalk housing estate

Eighteen homes evacuated as army called to Ashling Park to deal with device

The army has been called to deal with a suspect device, possibly a pipe bomb, in a housing estate in Dundalk, Co Louth.

It is understood 18 homes in the immediate vicinity of the device have been evacuated. The army bomb disposal team attended the scene.

The discovery was made in the driveway of a home in Ashling Park just before 6pm.
