Gardaí investigating death of 10-week-old baby, inquest hears

Gardaí are investigating the death of a 10-week-old girl who died in hospital last month, an inquest heard.

Doriana Kluska from Cloondara, Co Longford died at Temple Street Children’s Hospital on June 4th, 2017.

At the opening of an inquest into the infant’s death at Dublin Coroner’s Court, Inspector Michael Mulligan said Garda inquiries in relation to the death are ongoing.

The infant was born on March 24th.

The child’s mother Donata Plefzynska formally identified her baby to Garda Michael Guihen of Mountjoy Garda station at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Temple Street Children’s Hospital on June 4th.

A postmortem examination conducted by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan gave the cause of death as acute subdural hemorrhage.

The child’s father was represented at the inquest by solicitor Frank Gearty.

Inspector Michael Mulligan applied for a six-month adjournment of the inquest to allow for ongoing Garda inquiries into the child’s death.

The inquest was adjourned under Section 25 of the Coroner’s Act for further mention on January 18th, 2018.
