A National Lottery spokeswoman said “The National Lottery received four Facebook queries related to three different player difficulties accessing Lottery online. The players were advised to refresh the page to avoid this issue. Typically 350,000 players take part in the weekly Wednesday night lotto draw with approximately 16,000 to 18,000 playing online,” she said.

The spokeswoman added one player claimed the Match 5 plus bonus prize of €109, 920.

There was no winner of tonight’s Lotto jackpot, worth €3.3 million.

The numbers drawn were 3, 5, 14, 30, 40 and 43 and the bonus number was 45.

There was no winner of the top Lotto Plus 2 prize of €250,000. The numbers drawn were: 4, 10, 14, 19, 23 and 38. The bonus number was 9.

The new private operator of the National Lottery was called to appear before the Oireachtas finance committee in March following a systems crash and the controversy over its new ticket terminals.

Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI), which took over the running of the franchise late last year, has been criticised over the introduction of new technology which retailers claim has undermined service levels and damaged sales.

In January, the lottery was forced to defer a weekly jackpot draw for the first time in its 28-year history when technical problems crashed ticket terminals across the country.

A month later,  the National Lottery ticket terminals crashed twice following changes to the operator’s new technology system.
