Two Mayo school buses chosen at random have had a total of 45 breakdowns over the past three years, according to the Fine Gael spokesman on public enterprise, Mr Jim Higgins. Information supplied by the Minister for Education, Dr Woods, shows that the buses in question, which serve two secondary schools in Claremorris, have had 23 and 22 breakdowns respectively since 1998. Mr Higgins said this confirmed that many school buses should be scrapped.
