Kinsealy House, a Georgian threestorey over basement home on just over four acres in Kinsealy, Co Dublin, is for private treaty sale with HOK Residential seeking offers in the region of £1.5m.

The house, which is located about three-quarters of a mile from Malahide Road at the Kinsealy Church turn, was last offered for sale in July 1999, but a problem arose over the entrance to the property and the sale was delayed. There is now a new driveway to the house. The owners are keeping an adjoining 13-acre parcel of green belt land.

The six-bedroom brick fronted house was owned by Teagasc for many years and reverted to private use in the early 1990s. Since then the present owners have restored much of the house although the entire basement area has yet to be refurbished.

Wide granite steps lead up to the front door with its granite architrave. Inside, the reception rooms have been decorated in a colourful Victorian style though the proportions are unmistakably Georgian.

There is a wide hallway with decorative cornicing and a polished floor. To the left is a drawingroom with a large marble fireplace and decorative ceiling cornices. The three shuttered windows in this room allow in lots of light.

The original diningroom across the hall is now a sittingroom off which is a room now used as a dining room. At the back of the house the owners have installed a bathroom and utility room, and converted an adjoining stable to a big country style kitchen with exposed brick walls and an original black-leaded range still in use.

There are four large bedrooms on the first floor, all with polished timber floors. These rooms share a bathroom. The attic floor has two double bedrooms with sloping pine ceilings supported by heavy timber beams.

The 4.2 acre grounds include an acre of lawn to the front and side of the house with several old spruce and sycamore trees. A group of stables and outbuildings offer scope for further development, subject to the necessary planning permission.
